TULSA'S FIRST COHOUSING PROJECT
Heartwood Commons—a cohousing community in Tulsa, OK—is creating another living option for active adults 55+. The development features thirty-six, right-sized, energy efficient, privately owned homes on nearly five acres, conveniently located near many of Tulsa’s most popular parks, shopping, and entertainment venues. The homes and common house have been designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, accessibility, and social connections for successful aging in place.
Some of the sustainability highlights include geothermal systems in all homes and the common house, solar-ready garages to assist in providing power to the common house and site, careful selection of materials to enhance indoor air quality, a walkable site layout that encourages physical activity, and the inclusion of hardened spaces in each home to help weather Oklahoma storms.
Heartwood Commons is owner-developed, designed, and managed. To learn more about the community, visit the their website.
