JDS is thrilled to announce Christian Garcia-Arreguin as the newest member of our family. She will be working as a Sustainability Consultant or in her own words as a "Green Ideation Ninja" here in JDS. Christian holds a LEED AP (BD+C, Homes) credential as well as a WELL AP Credential and a Master's Degree in Sustainable Architecture and Environmental Design from the University of Sheffield in England.
Since 2011 she has participated in over 18 sustainable projects either as sustainability consultant for LEED certification or as part of the design team. She has experience on public and private sector projects that range in size from 4,637 square feet to over 2.8 million square feet.
In 2012, Christian participated in the world's first National Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) in the New Housing sector which is located in Mexico. This project goals included the following:
adapting affordable home design to incorporate eco-technologies
material and resource management
energy performance validation in different climates across Mexico
provide education to contractors and residents about sustainability
reduced greenhouse gas emissions
This ground-breaking project serves as a catalyst to evolve affordable housing in Mexico and around the world.
Christian currently volunteers as a member of the USGBC Oklahoma Market Leadership Advisory Board and has also been part of the planning committee for the campaign "Vestido Rojo" (Red Dress) by the American Heart Association to raise awareness of heart disease in the Tulsa area.
