OKLAHOMA'S FIRST LIVING BUILDING CHALLENGE PROJECT
The Joinery will be located in the historic Heights neighborhood near downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. This is the first project in the State of Oklahoma seeking certification using the Living Building Challenge from the International Living Future Institute. The Living Building Challenge™ is a building certification program, advocacy tool and philosophy that defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today and acts to rapidly diminish the gap between current limits and the end-game positive solutions we seek. A few of the imperatives required by the Living Building Challenge include:
Net Positive Energy
Net Positive Water
Net Positive Waste
Materials Free of Chemicals of Concern
The project is being built using highly efficient mechanical and electrical systems, including solar photovoltaics and a battery system. Follow the progress at livingjoinery.org.
